Defining and Refining a Healthy Product Backlog - Ellen Gottesdiener

In this one-day workshop, you learn to improve product agility and team outcomes through precise and transparent development of “ready” product backlog items. You define and refine these items (user stories, epics, or features) across the 7 Product Dimensions, prioritize user stories, and prepare for value-based planning. Learn to use the product’s vision and value to drive Structured Conversations and optimize product delivery. Using practical, integrated exercises, we span the Pre-View (release) and Now-View (sprint or work-in-progress) planning horizons. Participants from all disciplines learn to collaborate as product partners to populate a lean backlog, slice backlog items based on value, and refine items so they are actionable. Learning ObjectivesThrough interactive discussions, exercises, examples, and reviews, learn to:• Conduct “Structured Conversations” to populate and refine your product backlog. • Use the 7 Product Dimensions to holistically discover and refine product options.• Identify and define high-value user stories.• Progressively slice and estimate user stories.• Confirm user stories with tests. • Make backlog items "ready" to get to "done".
