Frederick Douglass, the great abolitionist activist, writer, orator and thinker, was born on or around February 14th, 1818. This tour is in commemoration of Douglass' birthday. Frederick Douglass came to Detroit numerous times. He lectured here, and fought for freedom here. But one of his most important visits here was on March 12, 1859. Learn about what happened when Frederick Douglass came to Detroit as well as his other work in the fight against slavery on this tour. Join historian & Tour Leader Jamon Jordan as he leads this tour at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History highlighting the history of Frederick Douglass and his legacy in Detroit. This tour is FREE for all attendees who have a Charles H. Wright Museum membership. Show your proof of membership and you can attend the tour for FREE. If you do not have a membership card, then you will need to pay the museum for admission, and you will need to pay Tour Leader Jamon Jordan $5 for the tour. FREE FOR MUSEUM MEMBERS! $5 for Non-Members.
